<p>A semi-conducting device comprises a planar, superconducting surface (10) which has been formed to define an input branch (12), an output branch (14) and a clock line (6) extending transversely between the input and output branches (12, 14). The device has a line (18) along which the superconductivity has been destroyed. This line (18) extends generally in the direction of the clock line (6) to define respective areas (L1, L2, L3) adjacent the input branch (12) and the output branch (14). The inductance of the area (L1) adjacent the input branch is greater than the inductance of the area adjacent to the output branch (14). A first Josephson junction (J1) is provided adjacent to the input branch (12) and a second Josephson junction (Js) is provided adjacent to the output branch (14) and extends transversely of the clock line (6). The first and second Josephson junctions are formed by direct electron beam irradiation.</p> |
