Behind a filling hopper is fitted a tubular compression chamber with a door for a rectangular aperture, behind which is located a packaging unit (88) for the compacted bales. A compression piston slides in a guide sleeve and is movable into the compression chamber. The packaging unit is formed by a packaging sleeve (89) and a swivel table (77), located behind the sleeve and tiltable through 90 deg. The sleeve has holders (50) for a unidirectional container (81) in the form of a big bag, fitted with lifting belt loops (93). The piston hydraulics and the electric switch box are in the form of satellites.
