A racket frame is formed from a metal tube having apertures for stringing, said apertures having integral flanges projecting towards the interior of the tube and is characterised in that the metal of the tube has an elongation at least locally such that the integral flanged apertures can be formed and the tube þan be formed into a frame after hardening treatment required by the metal has been completed. A perforated plastic e.g. nylon or metal insert may be placed within the tube and may form a die in the punching operation in which the flanges are formed. The insert may remain to provide extra weight or in the case of a plastic insert may be removed by melting. Cross-sections of parts of a racket frame are shown in Figs. 4 and 5.</p> |
