PURPOSE:To provide a printer reduced in power consumption and capable of being assembled with favorable operability, by a construction wherein a type wheel for which type selection is not required is fastened at a predetermined position by engaging a selection pawl being in a stand-by state with a fastening projected part of a selection ratchet. CONSTITUTION:When a tooth part 13 of a selection ratchet 6 is fastened to a selection pawl 25 to hold the rotation of the ratchet 6, the subsequent rotation of a driving shaft 2 in the direction of an arrow D is accompanied by fastening of a substantially central part of a first arm part 22 of a driving pawl 20 to a release pin 17 provided on the ratchet 6 and an outward movement of the part 22. By this, a projection 21 of the first arm part 22 is disengaged from a notched part 3 of the driving shaft 2, and the transmission of the rotating force of the driving shaft 2 to the ratchet 6 and a type wheel 5 is cut off. A pawl part 26 of the selection pawl 25 is engaged into a ink groove 8 provided in the type wheel 5, for obviating a positional deviation of the type wheel 5 for which type selection has been performed. |
