<p>Sludge is conveyed through a conduit (16) to an attrition segment (20) adjacent to a kiln (12). A fluid is introduced into the attrition segment at a pressure sufficient to attrite sludge in the attrition segment (20) into smaller particles and to eject these particles into the kiln (12), whereby the sludge is burned more efficiently, a flame shape of the burning sludge is enhanced, and large, incombustible objects are removed from the sludge. <IMAGE></p> |
