PURPOSE:To obtain composite powder, containing yttrium, excellent in sinterability and useful as a silicon nitride/silicon carbide composite ceramic sintered compact. CONSTITUTION:This composite powder, containing yttrium and useful as a silicon nitride/silicon carbide composite sintered compact, is obtained by pyrolyzing a polysilazane, having Si-C bonds and Si-N bonds and further Si-Y bonds and/or N-Y bonds in the molecule and containing the yttrium at >=800 deg.C temperature in an inert gas atmosphere or a vacuum and pulverizing the resultant pyrolytic product. |
