Method for producing a hypochlorous acid solution wherein an aqueous liquidcomprising a basic alkaline metal or alkaline-earth compound is circulateddownwards in a stripping column, opposite to a gas flow comprising chlorine,water vapour and an inert gas, a gaseous effluent comprising hypochlorousacid is extracted at the column head and at least part of the gaseouseffluent is condensed in a condenser from which an aqueous hypochlorous acidsolution is collected. Use of the aqueous hypochlorous acid solutionobtained in this way for the production of chlorohydrins, by reacting with ahalogenated olefin compound.<IMAGE> |
