PURPOSE:To provide a method for producing 5-ethylidene bicyclo[2.2.1]hepto-2- ene by isomerizing 5-vinylbicyclo[2.2.1.]hepto-2-ene in the presence of a complex catalyst capable of being simply and safely prepared without directly handling a substance difficultly treatable such as an alkali metal. CONSTITUTION:The characteristic of this method for producing 5- ethylidenebicyclo[2.2.1]hepto-2-ene comprises isomerizing 5- vinylbicylo[2.2.1]hepto-2-ene in the presence of a catalyst comprising (a) an organic lithium compound, (b) a polyamine and (c) a potassium compound.
