PURPOSE:To obtain a diazo color developing thermal recording medium having small skin fog by incorporating a specific diazo compound a thermal recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording medium comprises a thermal recording layer containing a diazo compound and a coupler compound and provided on a support, wherein the layer contains a diazo compound represented by the formula I and/or II. In the formula I and II, m is an integer of 1-6, n is an integer of 0-6, R is hydrogen atom, halogen, alkyl group, alkoxy group, aryl group, aralkyl group, and aryloxy group. A method for synthesizing a specific diazo compound is obtained, for example, by condensation reaction of novolak resin and 2-diazo-1-naphtol-4-sulfonyl chloride. |
