<p>Cyclopenta-(f) (1)-benzopyrans and 7H-naphtho(2, 1-b)-pyrans of general formula (I):- Y = 3-oxybutyl (R5CH2COCH(R14)CH.(R15)-) or R; R = H, an alkyl gp. with 1-6 C atoms or a 3-substd. butyl radical; R5CH2C(R3,R4)CH(R14)CH(R15)-; R1 = a primary alkyl gp. with 1-5 C atoms; R2 = H, lower primary alkyl or lower acyl; R3 = -OR6; R4 = H; R3 + R4 may be -OR9O-, -OR9S-, -OR9N- or -SR9S-; R9 = lower alkylene; R5, R11, R12, R14 and R15 are independently H or lower alkyl; R9 = H, lower alkyl, lower acyl or lower oxyhydrocarbyl; Z = carbonyl or ; R7 = H or lower acyl; R8 = H or a lower aliphatic hydrocarbyl; T = a single or double bond; U = a single- or double bond; when T = a single bond, U = a single bond; m = 1 or 2; n and r = 0 when T = a double bond, or 1 when T = a single bond; s = 0 when U = a double bond, or 1 when U = a single bond. Intermediates in the synthesis of steroids or D-homosteroids. Depending on the value of Y, when Y = 3-alkyl, the cpds. may be used for the synthesis of members of the class of 9beta, 10alpha- or retrosteroids; as well as for the synthesis of 10alpha-steroids; when Y = 3-(4-substd.-pentyl), the cpds. may be used as intermediates in the synthesis of 19-nor-steroids.</p> |
