PURPOSE:To provide a coupling unit of simple structure in which driving power of a 4-wheel drive vehicle can be distributed in accordance with a differential rotational speeds between front/rear wheels and in accordance with a condition of the vehicle at braking time, at turning time, etc. CONSTITUTION:In a coupling unit, input/output shafts 1, 3 are connected through a wet multidisk clutch 2 which makes connection thereof with coupling force adjustable by moving a piston 16 by pressure oil supplied by an oil pump 11. The coupling unit is formed such that an electric viscous fluid 15 of changing viscosity in accordance with applied voltage is used as the pressure oil and also a pressure of oil for pressing the piston 16 can be adjusted continuously by adjusting voltage applied to an electrode 19 provided in the halfway of a hydraulic circuit 18. |
