The title of a scene can be faded in or faded out by using the circuit and method. The circuit includes a title controller(121) for processing fade-in and fade-out of a title, a gain controller(112) for adjusting the gain of video title signal generated by the title controller(121), a selector(113) for selecting the video title signal, an adder(115) for adding output signal of a video signal input unit and the video title signal, a level adjusting circuit(114) for adjusting the level of the output signal of the adder(115), an inserter(116) for selecting input video signal and the video title signal according to output signal of the title controller(121).
