PURPOSE:To provide a vehicle airbag device that is advantageously constructed for impact tests without varying the arrangement of a can, the cross-sectional form of a blocking plate and the function of a mounting leg, poses no problems with assembling operations, and contributes to cost reduction while enhancing the degree of freedom in design. CONSTITUTION:This airbag device includes an opening (a) provided in an instrument panel P in front of the front passenger seat; a blocking plate 10 freely openably blocking the opening (a) and having a breaking portion 0 which is broken under strong pressure to open the opening of the instrument panel P; an inflator 1a disposed opposite to the blocking plate 2 inside the instrument panel P to generate gas; and a can 1 accommodating an air bag 1b that is inflated by the gas, breaks the breaking portion 10, and expands into the vehicle interior to protect an occupant. The breaking portion 10 is a heat-caulking projecting portion projected integrally with the back of the blocking plate 2 and provided with a bracket 11 having one end portion locked to the breaking portion 10 and the other end secured to the can. |
