METHOD OF DRIVING MOTIVE POWER TRAIN, POWER TRANSMISSION ANDASSOCIATED ELEMENT

PURPOSE: To provide a power train having a power transmission and an electric motor/generator. CONSTITUTION: A power train is located between an engine 11 and a drive ratio selective transmission 39. An electric motor/generator 14 is connected to a power transmission 10 to drive accessory elements 53-56 including an oil pump. The power transmission uses complex planetary gear sets 19, 21 and a common gear member 16 works as a ring gear of a second planetary gear set and a sun gear of the second planetary gear set. The smaller accessory elements provide sufficient output power by using the electric motor/generator to drive the accessory elements during engine idling and stop.
