<p>PURPOSE:To feed a sheet without dirt on the edge by nipping a plurality of sheets, and forcibly driving a retard member so as to return the sheets at detecting stop of rotation of the retard member. CONSTITUTION:When several sheets are fed to the nip part of separation roller pairs 15, 16, the force sending out the sheets by the feed rollers 15 and the force returning the sheets by the retard rollers 16 are respectively applied on the sheets. When carrying of the sheets except the uppermost one is stopped by balance of the force, the retard rollers 16 are stopped to rotate. This is detected by means of a photosensor 28, a motor 26 is driven for a prescribed time, and the retard rollers 16 is rotated in the reverse direction so as to return the sheets to the upper stream side in the feeding direction. Hereby, the uppermost sheet is sent out by the feed rollers 15, and the sheets except the uppermost one are forcibly kicked back by the retard rollers 16. Hence, the time of being nipped of the sheets except the uppermost one becomes short, and the tip edge of the second sheet hardly becomes dirty.</p> |
