A rear-view mirror assembly comprises a stem 7 supporting universally at one end a mirror head and being fixed at its other end in a resilient support 1 formed with a groove 4 having a mouth of width B less than the maximum internal diameter A. A rib 6 on the stem is located in a channel 5 at the base of the groove. The end 8 of the stem may be of reduced crosssection and threaded to take a nut 11, this arrangement causing a correspondingly reduced diameter portion of the support to be clamped between the nut and a shoulder 9 on the stem. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 the stem is formed of two portions 15, 23 connected by a support 22, there being formed in the support a groove 26 similar to groove 4. The ball end 16 of stem portion 15 is connected to a vehicle roof 21 by means of a base 17, tightening of screws 20 causing a lip 18 to force the stem portion towards windscreen 19. The supports 1, 22 may be made of rubber or nylon. |
