The present invention provides isolated astrocyte derived neurotrophic factor, cDNA encoding same, and uses thereof. The present invention further provides isolated nucleotide sequences which are preferentially expressed in T1 astrocytes, as well as nucleic acid sequences encoding conserved protein motifs and methods of using these sequences as markers of glial cell differentiation. |
