Method of improvement of road-surfacing materials by addition of fibres

The procedure consists of mixing a granular material to be applied to the road surface with a hydrocarbon binding agent and then adding a flow of cut fibres (11) from a series of guns (5) immediately before the surfacing material is spread by an auger (6) and compacted. The fibres are of glass and are applied by the guns (5), all powered by a single shaft (17). The fibre length is between 20 and 80 mm, and they can be directed into the mixture at various points.
