The tubular conduit has a sealing sleeve (2) of an elastomer or plastomer material with the communication cable (3) embedded in the wall of the sleeve. The communication cable carries at least two conductors, and may carry optical fibres. The communication cable has woven mesh shielding (3.3) to ensure its anchoring in the conduit wall. The shielding is conductive. The conduit terminates in a tubular connector (5) that fits inside the end of the conduit. A sleeve (6) fits outside the conduit to clamp it over the end of the connector. The outer end of the sleeve has an enlarged internal diameter to allow the communication cable to be brought out for connection. A terminal (7) is provided at the junction between the sleeve and the tubular connector to terminate the communication cable and allow external connection.
