The compartment is used in cabriolet vehicles and includes a rear luggage compartment (1). The compartment is defined by a space (4) formed between the floor (5), the rear side walls (7,8) and the transverse member (9) adjacent to the luggage compartment. The compartment is located in the above defined space and formed as a module with a rear seat (15). The back section (16) of the rear seat strengthens the base panel of the luggage compartment. It includes a two part panel (30) with the first part generally horizontal and the second part generally vertical and attached to the floor of the vehicle.
