The device (5) has a first part (6) that is attached to the body (2) of the rear view mirror and a second part (7) that is attached to the reflective plate (3). A rotary joint assembly (27,17,30) is arranged between the two parts. The joint assembly has a spring which has its ends attached to the central fixing points (31,32) and to the second part. The fixing points have location areas arranged in them. The spring is arranged in these as a sleeve fit.
