A vertical cheese press is made of two parts. The lower part (4) includes a base plate (6) on which moulds are positioned. The upper part (2) includes the presses themselves. The two parts are joined by vertical supports, the length of which can be adjusted telescopically. The lower part of the press (4) has a frame (8) made of welded angle pieces to support the base plate (6), with legs (10 and 12) at each corner. The rear legs (12) extend above the base plate to form guides (14) for intermediate plates. Two vertical tubular pieces (16) are welded to the centre of the two sides of the frame. The upper part of the press (2) is supported on an arch made by two vertical legs (18) which slide in the vertical base pieces (16), and are welded at the top to two horizontal angle pieces (20). The horizontal pieces carry a square plate (22) supporting a hydraulic piston (24) and its control unit (26). The base plate (6) and upper plate (30) are each made of a single block of polyethylene.
