The invention relates to winches operating with a hydraulic motor. It consists in connecting up the servo-valve (405) for supplying this motor as a 3-way system so that the supply hose (409) used as a discharge when the load is being winched up is connected directly to the fluid return, and so that during the descent, this motor is no longer supplied with high pressure and makes the fluid circulate in closed circuit without pressure. Complementary means (403) allow this fluid to be refreshed with a flow rate which is low enough that it does not excessively increase the supply of energy, and high enough that it limits the overheating of the fluid. It makes it possible to improve the safety of the winches used for immersing sonars from a helicopter.
