An interferon glycoprotein of neuronal origin (N-IFN- gamma ) which has a molecular weight of from about 50 to about 70 kDa, is capable of interaction with at least two monoclonals directed against spatially distinct epitopes of lymphocyte-derived IFN- gamma , exerts parasite-stimulating and anti-viral actions, and is capable of induction of MHC and of enhancing muscle cell proliferation; a pharmaceutical composition comprising such glycoprotein; a process for preparing such interferon glycoprotein; and methods of performing interferon therapy on mammals including man.
