The seat has a seat bearer (26) on a bearing frame, and an upholstery bearer (30) on the seat bearer, carrying the seat cushion. The upholstery bearer can be adjusted in position relative to the seat bearer for setting the height e.g. of the front edge of the upholstery bearer, the rear edge, and/or the longitudinal setting of the upholstery bearer relative to the seat bearer. There are borings (36) in the region of the front edge of the upholstery bearer and of the front edge of the seat bearer. There are two connectors for the mech. connection of the fixing devices (40) of the seat bearer and those of the upholstery bearer. These are interchangeable. One or the other is fitted as appropriate.
