The chain saw has an engine located in a housing (1) with an air filter unit (11) having a clean chamber (15) connected to the engine via a suction channel (10). The clean chamber is separated from a dirt chamber (13) via a filter (14), external air being directed into this chamber first. The suction channel is elongated via a suction pipe (16) extending into the clean chamber in the air filter. The external air entry channel (12) is located essentially perpendicular to the suction pipe, on an air filter cover (20).
