A limited rotation assembly (10) for an optical scanner (24). This assembly (10) includes an input command unit (12) and a signal generator (14) and an electronic driver (16) and a summing junction (18) and a torquer (62) connected in series. The torquer (62) has a tachometer (64) with a start-stop pulse feedback loop (38) to the signal generator (14) and with an angular velocity and position pulse feedback loop (54) to the summing junction (18).
