High pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for phospholipid

Method for sepg. and quantifying the main phospholipid classes using high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) comprises (i) applying the sample mixt. contg. an internal reference to a first short column connected to a second, taller column and eluting isocratically (ii) separating the phospholipids having a retention time of up to 40 mins. from the second column, and separating the phospholipids with a retention of time of 40-60 mins. from the first column; and (iii) analysing the eluates using UV detection and then fluorescence detection techniques.
