Light distributor for gas-discharge tube lighting units

A room lighting unit has a gas discharge tube (1) positioned within a unit with parabolic side reflectors. Positioned above and below the tube are clear plastics type light distributors (2) that have cross-sections with multiple reflecting surfaces (8). The output of the tube is reflected off the surfaces. The output surface (6) is some 90 degrees, plus or minus 15 degrees to the direction of the main emission (1'). A further version has laminates with prism end surfaces installed beneath the tube. These provide a grating effect and are produced of transparent material.
