The present invention relates to a process for producing a container (23) capable of subsequently withstanding, without significant distortion, harsh heat conditions. This process comprises moulding, by a blow-moulding or extrusion-blowing step, an intermediate container (2) from a preform (1), wherein the body of the preform is heated to at least the softening temperature of the thermoplastic, and the dimensions of the intermediate container being larger than those of the final container (23); producing, from the intermediate container, a blank with a hot tapered body of a greater predetermined length than that of the final container (23); moulding or blowing from said blank the body of the final container (23), without the bottom area, the body of the container without a moulded bottom being substantially of the same length as that of the final container (23); and finally moulding, by a final blow-moulding step, the body and bottom area into their final shape and size, so as to obtain the final container (23).
