[Also in Division B3] A damaged portion of the enamelled surface of a steel polymerisation tank is repaired by grinding away the damaged enamel 1 and fitting into the recess so formed a plate 2 of a corrosion-resistant metal such as gold silver or tantalum which is held in place by silver pins 7 which are screwed into the tank and riveted over into countersunk holes formed in the plate. There is a layer of acid resisting adhesive or cement 6 between the plate and the steel shell of the tank. |
