<p>The present invention relates to a projectile propulsion assembly of the type comprising a chamber (150) which accommodates a pressure source (140), characterised in that the said chamber (150) communicates with an expansion space (116) via a passage (170) controlled by a control flap. According to one embodiment, the system comprises a launching tube (100) defining an expansion chamber (116) capable of receiving a projectile (200) and a pressure source (140) communicating with the expansion chamber (116) of the tube receiving the projectile, and there is provided an intermediate chamber (150) which accommodates the pressure source (140) and which communicates with the expansion chamber (116) via a passage (170) controlled by a control flap.
