PURPOSE:To obtain a massaging agent showing excellent spreadability by application with fingers, brushes, etc., exhibiting improved rubbing effects on gingiva with fingers etc., and desirable massaging effects of blended particles, by blending a paste base for oral cavity with water-absorbing polymer particles. CONSTITUTION:A paste base for oral cavity comprising 1.5-7.0wt% hydroxyethyl cellulose, 1.0-10.0 nonionic surface active agent of polyoxyethylene addition type and/or nonionic surface active agent of fatty acid ester type, 1.0-6.0wt% higher alcohol (e.g. cetyl alcohol or stearyl alcohol), 5.0-40.0wt% polyhydric alcohol (e.g. glycerol or ethylene glycol) and water as main components is blended with 0.1-10wt%, preferably 0.5-5wt% water-absorbing polymer particles having 50-500mum average particle diameter. A vinyl alcohol/ acrylic acid copolymer or sodium polyacrylate is preferable as the polymer. |
