A spinning reel for fishing includes a rotor (33) rotatably fitted to a reel body, and a spool (45) supported by the reel body via a spool shaft (47) in such a manner that the spool (45) is capable of a traverse motion in the axial direction of the spool shaft (47) and that a fishing line is wound thereon when the rotor (33) is rotated by a manually operated handle (49). The spinning reel for fishing is further includes a fishing-line entry restrainer (53) for preventing the fishing line from being wound on the spool shaft (47). The fishing-line entry restrainer (53) is movably fitted to the cylindrical portion of the rotor (33) placed in the spool (45). A follow-up mechanism is provided for causing the fishing-line entry restrainer (53) to move forward when the spool (45) is moved in the same direction. <IMAGE>
