PURPOSE:To obtain reliability of a compressor even in the case of an operation of an air conditioner for a long period. CONSTITUTION:The drive controller for an air conditioner comprises driving time counting means for counting an integrated driving time of a compressor 1, and discharge temperature detector 10 for detecting a discharge temperature of the compressor 1, wherein the number of times when the discharge temperature of the compressor 1 is raised to a predetermined temperature or higher within a predetermined time is counted, and if the number of times exceeds a predetermined number, a driving frequency is reduced only for a predetermined frequency. Since the discharge temperature is once lowered during reducing of the frequency, generation of sludge in a capillary tube is suppressed, and the conditioner can endure against a long-term operation.
