Use as lubricants, especially for traction drives, of organophosphate esters of the general formula I: <IMG> I wherein R1 and R2 are independently selected from 2-methylcyclo-hexyl and 3-methylcyclohexyl groups. The compounds of the invention have good viscosity characteristics and can be used as lubricants in various engineering applications, either per se or in admixture with other lubricants, such as mineral or synthetic oils.
