Herbicidal substituted thienylsulphonylureas of the formula <IMAGE> (I) in which R1 represents ethyl or n-propyl, R2 represents hydrogen or methyl, X and Y are identical or different and each represent hydrogen, hydroxyl, amino, cyano, halogen, C1-C4-alkyl, C3-C6-cycloalkyl, C1-C4-halogenoalkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy-C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy, C1-C4-halogenoalkoxy, C1-C4-alkoxy-C1-C4-alkoxy, C1-C4-alkylthio, C1-C4-alkylamino or di-(C1-C4-alkyl)-amino and Z represents nitrogen, a CH group or a C-halogen group, and their salts.
