PURPOSE:To provide a manufacturing method of meso-carbon microbeads treated with high temperature, especially suitable for use in a negative electrode of a lithium ion secondary battery, in which melt bonding in a baking/graphitizing process is prevented and complicated work of pulverization which is usually required is remarkably reduced. CONSTITUTION:Meso-carbon microbeads are manufactured by separating optical anisotropy Spherules produced in pitch when pitch is heat-treated at 350-450 deg.C from a pitch matrix. The meso-carbon microbeads separated from the pitch matrix is heat-treated in an inert atmosphere at 400-500 deg.C, then crushed, and heat-treated again at a temperature of 1000 deg.C or higher. |
