DETECTING METHOD OF SHORT CIRCUIT OF BRIDGE CIRCUIT IN POWER CONVERTER

PURPOSE:To realize the detection of the short circuit of a bridge circuit in a power converter through a simple detecting method. CONSTITUTION:In a power converter constituted by connecting a bridge circuit consisting of a capacitor 2 and two semiconductor switching elements 4 and 5 connected in series in parallel at both ends of a DC power supply 1, a Rogowskii-coil 3 is mounted on a wiring 14 to the semiconductor switching element 4, and a detector 12 composed of a resistor 6 and a capacitor 7 is connected previously at both ends of the coil 3. A short circuit is detected by comparing voltage detected at both ends of the capacitor 7 with reference voltage 8 in a comparison circuit 9 when the short circuit is generated, and a driving signal from a gate driving circuit 11 is interrupted through an interrupting circuit 10 by an output signal from the comparison circuit 9.
