发明名称 OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE APPARATUS AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF
摘要 PURPOSE:To make an optical waveguide optically symmetric in order to symmetrize the field distribution of transmitted light by forming a clad layer consisting of LiNbO3 as a host material. CONSTITUTION:Regarding an optical waveguide apparatus in which an optical waveguide 2 consisting of a substrate 1 of mainly LiNbO3 and a metal e.g. Ti having a higher deflective index than the substrate 1 and diffused in the substrate 1 is formed and a clad layer 10 is formed on the optical waveguide 2, a clad layer 10 is formed while LiNbO3 is used as a host material. The deflective index difference of the optical waveguide 2 and the clad layer 10 becomes similar to the deflective index difference of the optical waveguide 2 and the substrate 1 by using LiNbO3 as a main material of the substrate 1 and LiNbO3 as a host material of the clad layer 10 and the optical waveguide 2 is thus made optically symmetric and the field distribution of the transmitted light can be symmetric.
