PURPOSE:To provide a shift control device for an automatic transmission capable of quickly and correctly selecting the optimum shift stage under various travel conditions based on relatively small fuzzy rules. CONSTITUTION:This shift control device for automatic transmission is provided with an input parameter calculation section 111 obtaining various input parameters based on various sensor outputs, an engine brake necessity detection section 113 made of a neural network obtaining the engine brake compatibility NN based on the input variables X1-X4 related to the gradient, braking force, handle angle, and vehicle speed, and a shift pattern selecting means 114 obtaining the required shift pattern via fuzzy inference in response to the various parameters and the engine brake compatibility. |
