PURPOSE:To obtain a navigation apparatus in which many pieces of map information including enlarged drawings can be stored in a relatively small storage capacity without excessively increasing the capacities of a storage medium and a storage unit. CONSTITUTION:A signal calculating processor 3 reads information of a dividing point of a road included in map data of a section to be displayed from an information storage unit 4, linearly interpolates them to generate a road map, calculates a vehicle position, and displays it together with the map written with characters and symbols on a display unit 5. The processor 3 reads, when receiving a designation of an enlarged display of the map, position coordinate information of a range to be displayed by enlarging, converts the coordinate information into enlarged position coordinate information, and linearly interpolates the enlarged coordinate information. |
