PURPOSE: To provide a hermetic compressor having high rigidity to avoid vertical incidence by varying the inner incidence angle of sound waves and eliminate noises by achieving a resonant frequency higher than the frequency of the compressor. CONSTITUTION: This hermetic compressor comprises a shell having a lower cap 14 formed with lateral surfaces 15-15' connected to curved surfaces 16-17, 16'-17' and having a very large radius of curvature, the lower part of the lower cap 14 forming a spherical surface. The radius of connection between the curved surfaces 16-16', 17-17' and the lateral surfaces 15-15' is at least half of the height of a band joined with an upper cap and placed on an upper part. The lateral surfaces 15, 15' join with the upper cap taking the form of an asymmetrical tripartite leaf.
