PURPOSE:To retard the growth of dendrites to enhance the safety of a battery and lengthen the life by containing a specified amount of at least one of quinones represented by specific structural formulas and corresponding reductants based on the weight of an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:At least one of quinones represented by formulas I-VI [wherein m, n, show the number of substituent groups of 1-4, p, q, s show that of 1-6, r shows that of 1-8, R1-R6 show hydrogen or at least one substituent group selected from the group comprising an alkyl group of 1-4 carbons, -C6H5, -F, -Cl,-Br, -I, -OH, -OCH3, -OC2H5, -CN, -NH2, -N(CH3)2, -SO3H, -COOR, (R shows hydrogen or alkyl group of 1-4 carbons)] and corresponding reductants are contained 0.05-1.0mole/kg based on the weight of an electrolyte. The growth of dendrites is retarded and short circuit between electrodes is prevented. |
