The safety barrier consists of a base (1), a vertical wall (3) and a head (4) with inner reinforcing elements (21,22) and end fixings. The head is in the form of a strong beam of greater width than the wall and with twin shoulders (5,6) on its opposite side faces. The reinforcing elements project from the ends of the beam to be joined to the end fixings, made in the form of plates (23,31) with holes (33) for bolts (39,40) inserted through recesses in the beam surfaces. The barrier is made from reinforced concrete and can be assembled in end-to-end sections, handled by machinery normally available for road works. The assembled sections can be made to follow curves in the road.
