The motor cycle, or scooter, has an under seat storage compartment, with the engine (E) below. The engine cylinder axis extends essentially horizontally. A propulsion unit, formed by the engine and gearing (M), transmitting power to the rear wheel, is supported by a pivotable chassis. The engine fuel admission orifice (98) is housed in the top of the crankcase (28). The orifice forms an obtuse angle with the cylinder horizontal axis, perpendicular to the crankshaft (32) axis. The propulsion unit is supported, pivoting, on the chassis, located between the cylinder block (27) and the admission orifice.
