In a washing machine comprising an outer container (2) with an air-tight lid (16), a washing tub (4) and a driving motor (7), a vacuum pump (6) is installed under the outer container so as to discharge the air between the outer container and the washing tub out via a piping system. The piping system mounted on the outer side wall of the outer container consists of a suction port (3) which is formed in multi-stepped ports intercommunicated with each other and also with the inside of the outer container, a suction pipe (8) connecting the suction port with the vacuum pump, and a drain pipe (9) prepared at the bottom of the suction port. An inflow pipe (10) with a valve (11) is communicated with the atmosphere and connected to a circular air distribution pipe (12) which has a lot of air injection holes (13) on the upper surface and is mounted under the washing tub. A vacuum release valve (15) is prepared at the upper portion of the outer container.
