A curved arm portion (6) of the frame contacts the wearer's ear, and is pivotally attached to the frame front via an intermediate arm portion (7). The curved portion is articulated to the intermediate portion to pivot in a vertical plane, and includes a toothed surface (15) which cooperates with a similar surface (12) on the intermediate portion. The toothed surfaces are at a distance from the articulation point (8) of the two arm portions, and are curved with complementary radii, allowing the two portions to be secured at a range of angular positions relative to each other. The two arm portions may be formed as a single component, of relatively flexible material, with the articulation point between them defined by a relatively narrow portion.
