<p>A method and an apparatus for recycling waste glass, in particular for recycling glass from cathode ray tubes or other electronic tubes, is specified. The waste glass is firstly mechanically separated in a separating device (30) from constituents (36) which mainly do not contain glass. The constituents (34) which mainly contain glass are then crushed mechanically in a device (40) to produce glass granules (44). The glass granules are subsequently melted in a furnace (10) and, preferably by means of a plurality of nozzles (24), are drawn out of the molten glass (12) to form glass threads which are wound onto a winding device (22). Glass from cathode ray tubes can thus be drawn out at between about 1400 K and 1650 K to form glass threads of a thickness of less than 10 mu m, having a high mechanical strength and a high chemical resistance, which means that they can advantageously be used for improving the properties of products made therefrom (Figure 2). <IMAGE></p> |
