Transporter for assembling pipes

A transporter, for a rod section comprising assembled pipes (7), has a drive (3) and two vertically travelling transport arms (5, 6) with claws for receiving pipes (7). The first transport arm (5) can travel along the entire length of the rod section, while the second transport arm (6) can travel along the length of a pipe (7) and can swivel at least partially into the horizontal plane. Also claimed is a process for assembling a rod section using the above transporter.
